The Labour Movement has regrouped its 61 unions into key industry clusters to better help workers boost their productivity - and ultimately, raise their wages progressively. The move is in line with a national push for economic restructuring and will allow unions to come up with training and other programmes that are customised to the needs of workers and companies in different industries.
New clusters will set individual targets for progressive wage increases and make their own plans that will help low-income earners, women and mature workers vulnerable to economic restructuring. Clusters can work out industry-specific plans with industry players and government officials.
